This article contains installation instructions for
Mastercam, Robotmaster, Moldplus, Aplus, and Moduleworks Laser Aided MFG. (LAM)


Mastercam must be installed before any other modules

 Mastercam
  1. Download Mastercam (Note: Request access here)

  2. Install Mastercam by double clicking on the installer and following the instructions
  3. Activate the Mastercam license:

    • If you were given a USB dongle (HASP), plug it into a USB slot and run the *.hcode file that was provided to you.

      Note: If you encounter the error: "HASP not found", please refer to this article

    • If you were given an activation code & license number a popup should occur when you try to open Mastercam for the first time asking you to activate the license online. Also refer to this article, How to install a temporary Mastercam license

  4. Update Mastercam by running the Mastercam updater
    1. File > Help > Check for Updates

Mastercam must be opened at least once before proceeding with the Robotmaster Installation

 Robotmaster
  • The user must have administrator rights to install robotmaster or any other Mastercam modules

     How to Check for Administrator Rights
    • In order to check if you have administrator rights
      • Type account into the Windows 10 search bar
      • Click Add, edit, or remove other users
      • Your account should be listed and Administrator should be below it

  1. It is important to backup your Robotmaster shared files before downloading and installing the update. For further instructions on how to back-up your files, refer to How-to back-up my Robotmaster V6 files.

  2. Remove any previously installed versions of Robotmaster between V6.2 - 6.8.

  3. Remove any installed versions of the Robotmaster toolkit.

  4. Download Robotmaster Note: Request access here

  5. If you have an older version of Robotmaster installed, uninstall it before proceeding.
    • Make sure that you backed-up your shared files by saving a copy of the the Robotmaster_V6 folder and its content located in C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared McamX
    • If you have questions regarding backing up your shared files, contact your Robotmaster reseller

  6. Install Robotmaster. Make sure that you select the appropriate Mastercam adapters during the installation process.

  7. To activate the Robotmaster license double click the rmlic file that was provided to you.  Note: The Rmlic file must be executed on the computer that will use Robotmaster.



  8. To access Robotmaster you must manually add the Robotmaster icon into the Mastercam ribbon 

Spray Module

The license for Robotmaster V6 Spray module usually looks like the screenshot below - 

To activate it, first make sure Robotmaster is installed. Then you must access the link from the computer that has robotmaster installed


Post processor

Post processors from 6.0 and older are not compatible with 6.9. An update is required if it has been customized (please contact your distributor for any questions).

Post processors from 6.1 to 6.8 are compatible with 6.9 on and X9, but require a quick update to fully support Mastercam, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021 (Advanced Multiaxis - see this document: What's new & Downloads).


 Moldplus
  1. Sign in with your Moldplus credentials : Moldplus download page. (Note: Request access here)
  2. Download the latest Moldplus for the appropriate Mastercam version

  3. Run the installation

  4. To register your license, open Mastercam and go to Moldplus / About:


  5. Select Register and look for the xml license that was provided to you by our team.

 Aplus
  1. Download the Aplus installer. (Note: Request access here)
  2. Place the CAMU.spcf file (provided by your resller) into the following directory C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared Mcam20XX   
        If you have a Mastercam version newer than 2019, the path will look like this  C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared Mastercam 20XX
  3.  Run the installer

 Moduleworks Laser Aided Manufacturing (LAM)
  1. Download the LAM installer. (Note: Request access here

    Mastercam & LAM Compatibility

    A ModuleWorks LAM installer is only compatible with one Mastercam version. The version is usually in the name of the executable (e.g. setup_mw5axCustomApps_MCAM2019_874271.exe)


  2. Add the ModuleWorks icon called mw5axCustomApps Laser aided manufacturing to the Mastercam Toolbar/Ribbon. (Note: Refer to this article on how to customize the Mastercam ribbon)

LAM License extension

A LAM license has the following file extension: mw5xca_lic (eg. LAM_License.m5xca_lic)

 I already have a LAM license
  • Click on the LAM icon that you added to the ribbon and click on the Load license file button

 I do not have a LAM license

I do not have a LAM license

Create and send a license request file (.mw5xca_lrq) to orders@robotmaster.com (Up to 2-3 days of delay).

How to create a LAM license request

  1. Click on the  "mw5axCustomApps Laser aided manufacturing" icon in Mastercam (the icon you added to the ribbon).
  2. If you don't have a license, the software will allow you to create a license request file. (See below for steps to create a LAM license Request file)

    LAM License Request Reminder

    The license request file must be created on the PC intended to be used with Robotmaster

    Fill in the fields with the following information..

    • Company Name: Robotmaster
    • Username: The name of your company (Note: this field should be filled with the name of the company that is purchasing LAM)

    Comments → 

    • Product type
      LAM
    • License type
      TEMPORARY
    • Expiry date: October 6, 2020 (Note: This date is provided by Robotmaster)
    • Hardware: PC Name (i.e. the name of your PC, usually found in system settings)

    After filling in the proper fields

    1. Click on Save Request in the bottom right, and name it something like 'CompanyA_License_Request'
    2. After completing this procedure, Moduleworks LAM will generate a file that has the extension .mw5xca_lrq (e.g. LAM_License_Request.mw5xca_lrq)
    3. Once the “License Request File” is saved, please forward it to orders@robotmaster.com to generate the codes. Please note it could take up to 3 business days to get the LAM license.
