Tool and Speed parameters for plasma cutting
When a Hypertherm Cut Chart entry is selected for a plasma operation, a corresponding tool for that process is automatically created and assigned to the operation.
This tool contains parameters based on the Cut Chart record for that process, including cut height and linear speed.
The naming convention for plasma cutting tools is:
{current in A} Hypertherm {material type} - D{kerf width in mm} H{cut height in mm}
For example, a plasma tool name for Mild Steel 130 Amp O2/Air with a Kerf Width (D) of 2.3 mm and Cut Height (H) of 6.6 mm would appear as:
130A Hypertherm MS - D2.3 H6.6
For robotic plasma cutting, Kerf Width (kerf diameter) is used as tool diameter and Cut Height is used as tool length.
For plasma operations, Selected tool, Linear speed, and Set speed from selected tool cannot be edited on the Tool and Speeds page. This information is automatically set based on Cut chart entry.
You can override the following speeds for a plasma operation:
Approach speed
Linear speed in mm/s on the approach to the toolpath. Normally, this is a joint motion.
Retract speed
Linear speed in mm/s on the retract from the toolpath. Normally, this is a joint motion.
Entry/exit speed
Linear speed in mm/s on the entry or exit trajectories leading into or out from the base toolpath.
